On Monday, November 4, 2013, we had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the 9G Triangle ribbon cutting ceremony! A few months back, we partnered with the board of the Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee and the Hyde Park Teacher Association (HPTA) to renovate the triangular bed where St. Andrews Road meets Violet Avenue (Route 9G) in Hyde Park! It was such an honor for us to be able to do this project. And we are proud to have been a part of the project.

“The Space was originally conceived as informal planting beds, installed and then maintained by members of HPTA. Over the years, the membership of the Association changed and the tasks of weeding, plant replacement and pruning became a burden, and the area began to look neglected. Tim Daniels, teacher at Violet Avenue School and public relations director of the HPTA, said, “This has always been a spot to showcase our union and its commitment to the community, and it needed help.” He first secured a grant from the Dutchess County United Teachers Coalition then reached out to the Board of HPVEC to discuss its involvement.

The original plantings have been completely removed, and residents should see the new installation prior to Memorial Day. Once the improvement is completed, HPTA volunteer members will again be needed to maintain the site.”
